Government charter published by the Dicastery

Date: 14 November 2023
Eglise Les Foyers de Charité

We welcome with gratitude the Charter of Government that the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life published on October 18. It allows us to continue to move forward in our momentum of renewal in communion with the Church.

Three points should be noted:

  • The charter no longer speaks of “Father” of the Home but of “priest” of the Home.
  • It mentions the regionalization of the Foyers of Charity around the world and the conditions of existence and operation of the latter.
  • Common life is reaffirmed as one of the foundations of the Foyers de Charité. The charter specifies that each community must be made up of at least 4 people under the age of 75 and the person in charge of the Foyer de Charité will not necessarily be a priest.

Why go on spiritual retreat ?

Whatever the reasons, the spiritual retreat is a breathing space in a setting that inspires inner reflection. The setting, silence and pace of the retreat give the participants the freedom to open up to themselves and to God.

A spiritual retreat is a break for the heart and the mind. It creates a breathing space for:

  • Relaxing, resting and finding comfort in the middle of our very busy lives;
  • Meeting with God in silence, reading his Word and rekindling the fire of our faith;
  • Reflecting on the meaning of our existence, taking a step back before making important choices;
  • Exploring the key questions of life and gaining a better understanding of the foundations of the Christian faith.
