Né à Mulhouse, ordonné prêtre en 1990, il est consacré évêque en 2012. D'abord évêque auxiliaire de Strasbourg, il est maintenant archevêque de Cambrai depuis août 2018. Sa devise : « Caritas Christi urget nos, La charité du Christ nous presse » (2Co 5).
